TOUR GUIDE: TREXPLORE THE ADVENTURES

JONI A. BONIFACIO

NORTHERN SAMAR HIGHLIGHTS
By:Nina Carpio

Just wanted to share with you the pics from my trip two weeks ago to Northern Samar. The beauty of the place is awesome and remains to be further discovered. It may well be one of the next best kept secrets on our country's Tourism treasure list. Ecotourism sites are many, including scenic rock formations, mangroves, fine white sand beaches with pristine blue waters and boulders of corals, waterfalls, rivers, and awesome caves with stalagtites and stalagmites formed through thousands of years (which include the 2nd largest in Asia). The surf areas have waves that come from the pacific ocean which have also been a well kept secret for a group of young Australian surfers.

The pictures capture a mere glimpse of what you can see and experience, suffice it to say, being there has lots more to behold. For those with a heart for adventure, love nature, are ready for a good workout, or have a penchant for exploration "Survivor and Amazing Race" style, come and discover what this beautiful island has to offer! For a culinary adventure, taste the humongous lobsters and Copapas (rock lobsters) which are very tasty and delicious.

After adventure tours of the day, you will always have the Bobon Beach Resort as a perfect homebase waiting for you with a hot shower, aircon room, cable tv, and friendly management and staff (and pets). You may Contact Gerald Anderson, the resorts gracious General Manager and his lovely wife Elvie at 0927-2949625 and checkout the resort's email and website at: info@bobonbeachresort.com and www.bobonbeachresort.com.

For your guided tours, I am more than happy to recommend to you our friendly adventure tour guide Joni Bonifacio who can make an itinerary just right for your adventure travel experience level and budget. He set up his own travel outfit called trexplore after shifting from pre-med to entrepreneurship. I can guarantee he can take lots of great "postcard worthy" shots of you at the different sights too! You can reach him through cell no. 0919-2943865 and for more pics and information, see his multiply site: www.trexplore.blogspot.com and www.samartrexplore.multiply.com.

There are also lots of "lots" all over the Northern Samar that are also worthy of great real estate investments. There is even an island for sale at $30million, with clear blue waters and lots of coconut trees and hills overlooking the white sand beach front. Excellent scuba diving sites are also all abound and are tremendous investment potentials for divetour operators to set up shop and gain from the domestic and international dive market.

Development is slowly but surely creeping up on this island, and investment gains as well as beautiful restful areas are many for those who wish to escape city stress or retire on tranquil shores. I am happy to recommend to you our wonderfully entertaining host during our trip, Chris Bech who is our newfound Norwegian friend. He has happily settled in Samar and has lived on the island for the past six years. I am certain he will be able to give you more information and get you familiar with the many potential investment sites. You can contact him at 0920-9705054 and email chris@samarislands.com.

In addition to this, for those who you who have travel websites or travel outfits, I am happy also refer to you Steve Rice from Liverpool, England who has also settled in Samar and is currently developing the websites and weblinks to connect the island to international cyberspace. He has an extensive photo collection (hundreds of which he also took during our super trip) which will very much help promote Northern Samar to the world. He will also be able to provide you with more information with his first-hand personal experiences on the island. His contact number is 0927-2902326 or email at steve@mr.fixitdesigns.com or steve_rice@samarrealty.com.

I will forever thank Paul Daza, the Congressman of Northern Samar and his father Governor Raul Daza so very much for their warmth, kindness, and generous invitation and accomodation for our entire stay. We enjoyed it immensely and have countless stories to tell. We had left Northern Samar only with the wish that we will once again visit the island in the future to have more of the numerous sites ticked off our checklist.

I am honored to invite you all to visit Northern Samar and experience it all for yourselves.

WOW Philippines indeed!
